Wetlands Home
Located adjacent to a large wetland and near the Kettle Moraine glacial landform. The design is inspired by the natural surroundings, Wisconsin farming communities, and white winters. The house is sited on a knoll of native grasses providing a natural overlook to the flora and fauna of the adjacent seasonal wetland.
The house’s linear shape parallels the property’s existing contours, providing an elevated view of the wetland from the main living level and a partially exposed, “daylight” basement. The garage located at the crest of the knoll forms the home’s “L” shape. Aesthetically, the siding is stained a semitransparent white, giving a weathered appearance to the house and evoking the snow that blankets the Wisconsin landscape during the winter months.
